Will the current Coach of The Year Steve Fisher win the Coach of The Year again this season? This is our bid for our beloved Coach Fisher and why he deserves to be the Coach of The Year again!!!
” Steve Fisher is in the process of coaching SDSU during its Golden Era. Someday people will look back to these days as the best in the history of the basketball program. The job he has done is nothing short of amazing. Every year he establishes some new accomplishment for the program.”
– Steve Lappas, CBS Sports Network
”Coach Fisher helped me develop as a person, a student and a basketball player. There is no question that he is a major reason I am where I am today.”
- Chris Webber
“This team wasn’t supposed to be this good this season with all the talent they lost. Fisher is Coach of The Year for sure, and anybody who refutes that obviously hasn’t followed this team in the least. I picked UNLV to win and think the No. 14 ranking is too high, but SDSU was never supposed to even challenge a team like UNLV according to pre-season talk. Fisher has built something special, and Webber’s quote only serves to show how much of an impact he has on his players.”

Steve Fisher has conducted one of the greatest turnarounds in MCBB history at SDSU. He has taken a program that won an average of 9.8 games from the 1986-87 to 1999-00 seasons to eight postseason tournaments and six MWC championships. Since 2005 Steve Fisher has lead SDSU to 6 Seasons of 20+ wins. No one in college basketball right now is doing a better job of coaching than Steve Fisher at San Diego State. Going from the Sweet 16 (34-3), losing 4 of his 5 starters 1 of which to the NBA it was thought that this year would be a major rebuilding season for Fisher. Well it is not a rebuilding year the Aztecs have another 20+ win season. Wins at Arizona (Ending U of A winning streak), California, Southern Cal, are just some of the major west coast teams he has out coached this year. If you are all amazed at this team that the reigning Coach of The Year has just wait for next year, look at the list of players he will have back.

The Aztecs destroyed the pre-season expectations that the experts placed on them by competing on a national level this year. Coach Fisher certainly deserves CoY consideration.
thanks for pointing that out!
