In an interview with his partner Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans leaves the door open to star in Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

There seems to be no way to escape the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After the events of Avengers: Endgame, in which Steve Rogers goes to the past to return all the Gems of Infinity and decided to stay to live a quiet life with Peggy Carter and pass the witness to Sam Wilson / Falcon, it seems that there are chances of a return.

During a conversation for the Variety magazine segment, called Actors on Actors, between the actor, who is promoting the movie Knives Out and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), the question arose as to whether he would star in Steve Rogers / Captain America, and replied:

"Never say never. I don't know. It's not a 'definitive no', but it's not a total yes either. There are other things I'm currently working on and I think a great job was done allowing the Captain to complete his trip If you are going to return to the character, it cannot be just for the money, it cannot be just for thrilling the audience, what do we reveal, what are we contributing to the story, many things would have to be fulfilled, but currently it does not feel as something possible, and I would not like to hurt the legacy, which I want to protect a lot. It was such a precious time and being able to be part of these films was an incredible possibility for me. I said not many times and there are a million ways that this can go wrong. So it almost feels like we should leave it as it was. "

Even with the fear that the studio or screenwriters or the story or the director will ruin the legacy of Captain America - totally understandable - Chris Evans leaves the door open for a possible return of the character to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

If there is a long story that deserves to be told, it is what happened to Steve Rogers once he created a parallel timeline when he decided to stay in the past and live with Peggy Carter. But from there to that the study considers that it is worth producing something like that, there is a long way.
