The American rapper Kodak Black, detained since last May in Miami-Dade County (Florida), was sentenced on Wednesday to about four years in prison after pleading guilty in a case of illegal possession of weapons.

The 22-year-old, and whose real name is Dieu Son Octave, accepted his guilt in falsifying documents and delivering false information to buy three firearms at a distributor in Hialeah, a city near Miami.

La Fiscalia said that one of the weapons that the rapper bought earlier this year was found at the scene of a shooting in Pompano Beach, in South Florida and where it originated.

Based on his criminal record, the magistrate had previously denied him a bail request citing that it is a "danger to the community."

The singer was convicted of gun theft in 2015 and has been charged in addition to drug possession charges.

Last May, Kodak Black was arrested at Hard Rock Stadium shortly before performing at the Rolling Loud Music Festival, one of the biggest US rap music festivals.

Kodak Black was taken into custody in the same stadium, located in the town of Miami Gardens, and then transferred to a local jail as a result of a long investigation by the federal agency of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, as well as the US Marshals, for the use and possession of weapons.

At the time of his arrest, the singer of "Zeze", "Roll in Peace" and "Tunnel Vision" was released on bail in a judicial process he faces in South Carolina, with charges of sexual abuse.

Also, Kodak Black, now called Bill Kapri, was arrested last April in the state of New York on charges of drugs and possession of weapons when he entered the U.S. across the border with Canada.
