In 1990, director Chris Columbus selected Kieran Culkin to play Fuller McCallister, the cousin of Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin), in the classic Christmas movie Home Alone (My poor little angel). The role was Kieran's debut, in a tape in which the main star was his brother.

He repeated the role of Fuller McCallister in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, but also in his childhood he participated in other family productions as in the two installments of The Father of the Bride, in 1991 and 1995. By those years the brightness of his famous brother had already begun to disappear, so that Kieran began to be known as such and not with the crutch of "the brother of ...".

Although he was beginning to enjoy popularity in Hollywood, at home the situation was not the best. In 1995 his parents separated and began a legal battle to obtain custody of the young Culkin, as well as to manage the fortune that Macaulay had accumulated.

In an interview for Vanity Fair in 2018, Kieran, 37, said he had difficulties with his father. "He is not a good guy and he did not have such an important role in my life ... My mother took care of us and when he (my father) was absent, everything was better," he said.

Kieran has participated in several Hollywood and independent film productions, as well as television deliveries; accumulates a handful of nominations for important industry awards, including a Golden Globe for his participation in the Succession (2019) series of the HBO chain, where he plays Roman Roy, one of the sons of a tycoon who must choose his successor To manage their businesses.

He achieved his star in 2012 with the film Igby goes down, in which he shared roles with Ryan Phillippe and Susan Sarandon, who played his mother. The production earned him a nomination at the Critics Choice Awards in the category best young performer.
