Singer Billie Eylish defended her right to mourn XXXTentacion. The rapper XXXTentacion, real name Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was shot in June 2018 at the age of 20 years. At that time his music was a huge success. The second album reached number one in the States. His single Sad posthumously topped the charts.

At the time of his death, XXXTentacion was awaiting trial. He pleaded not guilty to charges that were dropped after his death. Miami-Dade County State Attorney's Office found records. The rapper confessed to a string of violent crimes. Some crimes included stabbing eight men.

Billy Eylish commented: I don’t think I deserve hate for loving someone who has died. Whatever happened in his life, he was always with me.
